Time to get picking

The kiwifruit picking season is underway as some orchardists begin to harvest their Gold variety fruit.
From pre picking sampling, Zespri is confident 2010 will be equally as good as 2009.
Bay of Plenty Zespri grower Doug Brown says overall the coming season looks very positive.

'I'm looking forward to a good season. Our Gold Kiwifruit taste great and Green looks good too.”
Director corporate and grower services Carol Ward says it is an exciting time for the New Zealand kiwifruit industry coming off the back of a successful 2009 season.
'I've recently attended a number of grower meetings and it was fantastic to see the positive feeling across the industry, heading into the 2010 season,” says Carol.
'Worldwide, people are beginning to recover from the economic downturn which bodes well for our industry.
'Zespri continues to invest aggressively in overseas marketing and in research and development, including on-orchard productivity and new cultivars to secure the best possible returns for New Zealand kiwifruit growers.”
