Despite lifting their strike notice, workers from the Open Country Cheese factory in Waharoa are still not being allowed back to work.
The New Zealand Dairy Workers' Union and the company have locked horns in an industrial dispute that has now dragged on for nearly three weeks.
The workers issued a notice to strike for eight days from September 16 after employment contract negotiations broke down. The company responded by issuing the workers with a six week lock-out notice. Since then the union took the matter to court and had the lockout declared illegal.
On Monday, workers picketed the Auckland offices of the company and at 5am Wednesday morning New Zealand Dairy Workers' Union national secretary James Ritchie says a picket gathered at the Waharoa plant.
By 9am James told SunLive it had grown to around 100 people.
'We feel we are doing everything we can to resolve this situation and we are going to mediation again tomorrow and Friday.”
