The race is on to make it to the finish line first for the Tauranga International Marathon.
The Tauranga International Marathon is the first ever international marathon event to be held in Tauranga and kicked off at 7am-4pm at The Waterfront on The Strand.
Participants have the option to run or walk 42.2km to the finish line at Gordon Spratt Reserve in Papamoa or 21.1km, 10km, 5km or 2km for kids.
While the marathon is on, several roads and lanes will be closed to vehicles, however, resident access will be maintained throughout the event.
If you need to enter or exit your property during these times please take extra care, look out for runners/walkers and follow any instructions from the volunteer marshals who are there to help you.

Cliff Road – from Mission Street to Monmouth Street – 6am–8am
State Highway 2 On Ramp from Chapel Street – 6.30am–7.30am

Bloody stupid the amount of road closures. Talk about a huge inconvenience. Open then roads and find somewhere else to bloody run.
