A helicopter with a monsoon bucket has been called to help firefighters quell a scrub fire in Te Puna this afternoon.

The fire is located on Minden Road.

There is a crew from Tauranga, a tanker from Greerton and an additional water tanker has been called from Te Puke, says Northern Fire Communications shift manager Jarron Phillips.

The fire is believed to be burning over an area of about 100m by 100m.
