Career exploration success

Careers a plenty were dished up at the Rotary Careers Expo, which went off without a hitch, much to the delight of organisers and exhibitors.

The expo is part of a month long campaign by Western Bay @ Work to showcase career opportunities available in the region to people at all stages of their working life.

Event organiser Alison Wilsons is happy with the way the expo went on Sunday and Monday.

'It makes all the hard work worth while when everything comes together like that,” she says.

'We had record crowd both days, especially Monday.”

Alison says everybody spoke positively about the event, even some of the exhibitors.

'Some have booked to come back next year which proves how happy they were with the way things went.”

She says the most memorable part of the careers expo was the interaction of young people.

'When you see young people communicating with various exhibitors, looking at what to be and talking about the different options along with the concentration on their faces, it makes me glad I went to all the trouble.

'Young people have it tough. It's good to see them taking responsibility for their future and not sitting on their hands. Getting cracking and making things happen.”
