The body of man has been recovered from a Tauranga farm following a quad bike accident.

Emergency services were called to the farm on Kaiate Falls Road just before 11am, after a neighbour had discovered the man's body.

Te Puke Sergeant Mark Holmes confirmed the body is that of an older gentleman, but would not speculate on his age.

Mark says early indications are that the accident did not happen today.

A reporter at the scene says a neighbour told him the deceased is believed to be the owner of the property, who was last seen earlier this week.

'While the farm is on Kaiete Falls Road, the body was found at the back of the property closer to Reid Road.”

The body has since been removed from the farm and police are making further enquiries.
