Greerton Library opening in July

A special community event will be held to mark the opening of the new Greerton Library on Friday, July 15.

The temporary Library at 1334 Cameron Road will close from Saturday, June 11, to give library staff time to transfer more than 50,000 books, shelves, furniture and equipment to the new building, says communication advisor Lucy Brake.

The new Greerton Library will open to the public on July 15.

Books issued at Greerton Library will not be due back during the closed period between Saturday, June 11, and Friday, July 15.

However, borrowed books can be returned to Tauranga, Mount or Papamoa Libraries, or the Mobile Library during this time.

The new library is twice the size of the old library, and is a modern, engaging and vibrant facility for the community.

In addition to library services, the new library includes a community meeting room and Learning Centre, for people to learn about IT and technology and improve their digital literacy.

Library Customer Services Team Leader Joanna Thomas says while the temporary library will be closed the team will be making every effort to ensure a smooth transition for the library users.

'On behalf of the library staff, we thank our valued customers for their patience during the period we will be closed, and we look forward to seeing them soon at our new premises,” says Joanna.

If people have any questions or concerns about returning books they can call 07 577 7177 or visit www.library.tauranga.govt.nz

That can only refer to the rort upon ratepayers, nothing else, the fact that millions have been wasted on this and that millions in future years will be added to ratepayers bills for this rather large indulgence.
