Food Act submissions close today

Public submissions on proposed changes to fees and charges under the new Food Act 2014 close today.

The Thames-Coromandel District Council says the act, which came into effect on March 1, now reflects that not all food businesses are the same and requirements have moved away from a 'one-stop-shop' approach.

Public submissions on proposed changes to fees and charges by the Thames-Coromandel District under the new Food Act 2014 close today.

How the council will now register, verify and deliver compliance also changes which has prompted the proposed changes to fees and charges.

'For example if you have a dairy and re-heat pies you won't have the same requirements as the business that makes the pies,” explains council.

'We sent those affected by the changes a letter in early March inviting feedback. Even if you're comfortable with the changes we'd like to hear from you, because that's good feedback for us too.”

Hearings for the proposed fees and charges are scheduled for April 14.
