Coromandel-Colville Community Board member Jane Warren says facilities like this will ensure more NZMCA members ‘stop, stay and spend' in Coromandel Town.
'It will be a real boost for the town to be the first in our district to be included as a Motorhome Friendly Town,” says Jane.
'There are already 38 towns registered, with Morrinsville, Paeroa and Te Aroha being the closest to us.”
The Motorhome Friendly scheme is an initiative of the association which offers the significant economic benefits of motorhome tourism to participating towns.
The benefit of the scheme for participating towns is their areas are promoted to the association's members at no charge to them via the Motorhome Friendly Towns website.
NZMCA chief executive Bruce Lochore says their members prefer to visit areas and towns where they feel welcomed and will go out of their way motorhome friendly towns.
'We certainly have turned our relationship around from where council and NZMCA were a couple of years ago and we are now working together on some really great projects,” explains Bruce.
The NZMCA has also applied to add a dump station in the Coromandel site at their cost, which holds up to 60 certified self-contained motorhomes.
