Keep conserving water: TCDC

The Thames-Coromandel District Council says water restrictions have now been lifted in Tairua and Whangamata.

Matatoki and Omahu are now the only Coromandel communities where a water use restriction is currently in place.

In Matatoki a hose and sprinkler ban is still in place, while a sprinkler ban only is currently in force in Omahu.

There are no water restrictions currently in place in Puriri, Thames, Coromandel Town, Matarangi, Whitianga, Hahei, Tairua, Pauanui, Onemana and Whangamata.

While water restrictions have been lifted for a number of communities on the peninsula, council is still asking Coromandel locals to continue to conserve water to delay possible future restrictions.

WATER CONSERVATION TIPS:

  • Take short showers, not baths
  • Fix any leaks and dripping taps
  • Use full loads to wash clothes/dishes
  • Do not wash cars, boats or trucks
  • Do not fill swimming pools
  • Do not water the garden in the heat of the day
  • Do not clean driveway/patio with hose

The Thames-Coromandel District Council's water restrictions are reviewed daily, but updates are only provided when there is a change in status. To keep up to date visit: www.tcdc.govt.nz
