He was joined by retired professional pro-rider Julian Dean for the video known as My Piece of the World which showed places such as Skyline Rides, Whakarewarewa Maori Village and Rainbow Springs.
The two riders spent a week filming different locations Sam also visited local identities such as Raj Kumar a local business man.
'Before Twitter and Facebook in Rotorua we had Raj, you'd go in and tell him something and the rest of Rotorua would know. So we had to go see him and give him a wind up,” Sam says.
Raj says it was great to having the likes of Sam and Julian back promoting the city.
The video show some real gems of the city including the penny divers of Whakarewarewa.
There was plenty of banter from the youngsters of the village who swim around in the thermally heated stream at the entrance of the village.
One youngster cheekily asked Sam to throw a notes instead of coins.
Sam replied he only had eftpos which got a quick response from the group of swimmers 'what's the pin?”
It was quickly added by one of the penny divers 'throw your keys down Sam”.
Julian who raced the Tour de France an incredible seven times says Rotorua is a cool place for people to visit and there is always plenty to do.
The video has proven popular with it already having close to 5000 views in the first week it's been online.
