Gull New Zealand has made a special delivery to the Bay of Plenty this festive season, bringing even lower fuel prices to motorists in the region with the addition of Gull Bethlehem.
The Bethlehem station, located on the corner of State Highway 2 and Te Paeroa Road, Bethlehem, turned on the pumps today.
The 24 hour site, by the independent, family owned energy company is perfectly positioned for locals and summer holiday visitors to the region alike.
'Bethlehem is a popular suburb of Tauranga and a gateway from the north to Mount Maunganui, one of the most popular holiday spots in the North Island.
'We expect those living in town and those passing through to benefit from lower prices as a result of the ‘Gull Effect',” Retail Development and Sustainability manager Karl Mischewski says.
The ‘Gull Effect' is a localised price drop across competitors following Gull's introduction to a new location.
'We've seen it happen at other locations when Gull has entered the market and we believe Bethlehem will follow suit.
This is our Christmas present to the Bay of Plenty – anything Gull can do to help motorists make more savings brings us so much joy.”
The pumps at Gull Bethlehem opened with a price of $1.769 for Regular 91 and $0.999 for Diesel.
Gull Bethlehem is a drive-through, pay-at-pump site providing Regular 91, Low Sulphur Diesel and Gull Force 10 (98 Octane) on four dispensers.

Is that Gull sells the same fuel in Rotorua for at least 14c a litre less than this...Yesterday it was $162.0 in Rotorua and last week it was 142.9 c. Justify that...I remember when Gull opened the Merivale station Dave Bodger (Gull Manager) said fuel would always be cheaper at the unmanned site than the Mount and other manned sites, this has not proven to be true.

I used to buy fuel there and I asked the guy behind the counter why it was cheaper than Hewletts Rd. He looked me straight in the eye and shrugged his shoulders said "Lower transport costs?" Funny thing was that forecourt was not busy yet Fairy Springs Rd BP that was at least 10c dearer was packed.
I said GO GULL!!

but I have to admit I do wonder why I have bought GULL fuel in SH 2 the Mount directly under the GULL storage tanks for $1.93.9 and ridden my bike south and filled up at GULL ATIAMURI and paid $163.9 for the same grade of fuel 113 Kms away south from the Tanks from where the fuel was supplied. You do have to wonder why the fuel gets cheaper as you go further south. As someone has already pointed out it's always cheaper at Gull in Ngongotaha and Rotorua. maybe someone from GULL can hop on here and give us all an explaination.
