A man is dead following a truck crash in the Bay of Plenty today. Shortly after 8am police attended a crash at Horohoro involving a truck on State Highway 30 between Upper Atiamuri on State Highway 1 and State Highway 5.

Police say it appears the driver became trapped in the cab and died as a result of injuries sustained.

Traffic in both directions is diverted onto Whirinaki Valley Road onto Nicholson Road to State Highway 30.

Police serious crash investigators are attending the scene and next of kin are yet to be notified and informed.
