From today all vehicle and driver licensing will now be processed out of the district council building on Mackay St in Thames.
Last weekend the Thames AA – the region's only driver and vehicle licensing service - relocated from its old home in the Thames i-SITE to the Thames-Coromandel District Council building.

This move coincides with the i-SITE's planned relocation to the Thames War Memorial Civic Centre on July 1.
Council says to make parking easier for locals they're also changing the parking times outside the building.
'The ten-minute parking zones on Mackay St outside Council will increase to 20-minutes, to give you time to get everything done,” says council. 'We're also extending the number of car parks with that timing allowance.
'Overall this means that those car parks won't be locked up all day, but they will allow you more time to do the things you need to do when you visit us.”
The AA had been in danger of being left homeless as its contract was set to be re-tendered by the NZ Transport Agency, meaning the service had to vacate its current premises by June 30.
Also from today Thames-Coromandel locals might also be paying a lot less for their car regos, with ACC lowering its levy for cars that meet the safety ratings.
To check how much your rego will cost before heading into the AA visit the Rightcar website which allows you to search for your vehicle by make and model, or by registration plate.
The Thames-Coromandel District Council's office is located at located at 515 Mackay St, Thames, and open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm.
