Simon divides: Chris vs Trevor

Tauranga MP Simon Bridges is joining with two of New Zealand's most controversial MPs on the television show Back Benches.

He is joined by now independent MP Chris Carter and senior Labour Party MP Trevor Mallard on the show that is airs on Wednesday at 9pm on TVNZ 7.

Chris Carter, Simon Bridges and Trevor Mallard.

Chris Carter shot into the public light when he was expelled from the Labour Party in October for speaking out about the party's no hope of winning the 2011 general election with Phil Goff as leader.

Trevor Mallard is a Labour Party stalwart.

Simon is excited about being on the same show as these two, and hints it could be revealing about Labour, but at the same time he is amused by the role he might play.

'Of course Chris Carter was ousted from the Labour Party and he might be able to shed some light on the in-goings of Labour and Trevor Mallard is also known as one of the roughest, toughest, but also at times funniest Members of Parliament,” says Simon.

'I think I'm going to have to stand in the middle between them so there's no argy-bargy.

'Maybe I can hold a family group conference for them.”

Simon does not believe he is quite in the same ‘colourful' vein as Chris and Trevor, but he believes he deserves his place in what is 'being billed as one of the highlights of the year for Back Benches”, after his work since becoming an MP in 2008.

'I have built a bit of a reputation for giving a good speech in the house.”

'I have built a bit of a reputation for giving a good speech in the house,” says Simon Bridges. More importantly, from where I sit, Simon has 'built a bit of a reputation for' integrity and hard work in and around our city!

Reminds me of the movie...

…The Three Stooges. Mallard having sold our schools, Carter having ripped off the taxpayer, and Bridges blowing the usual polit hot air trying to sell our foreshore... what a triumvirate! It will be the usual pageant of bipartisan claptrap to fool us voting sheeple that we have a choice! Shows that it doesn't matter if you vote National or Labour.

Speakup now!

Simon did a great job last night! What a breath of fresh air - he should be congratulated for exuding lots of it despite spending 2 years in the toxic air of Parliament.
