A large dumping of rain was recorded near Waihi and Te Aroha overnight.

'The radar images do show some heavier falls to the north and west of Tauranga,” says John.
'The rain gauge at Golden Cross, near Waihi, recorded 28mm and over in Te Aroha there was 13.5mm - half of which fell in just one hour.”
The MetService is predicting a few spots of rain in the coming days with temperatures returning to the mid-20s this week.
Meanwhile, Bay of Plenty Police are warning people to drive carefully in the district this morning following a few minor crashes.
'It seems to be a recurring theme as soon as we get a bit of wet weather,” says a statement from police.
'Please adapt to the conditions when you're driving. We want you all to reach your destinations safe and sound.”
