Minor delays are expected on the Route K toll road next week as contractors carry out major pavement repair works.
Works start on the State Highway 2 off ramp to Route K at 6am, Monday, January 19, and are expected to be finished by 7pm Friday, January 23.
Motorists are being urged to expect delays on Route K starting next Monday.
The hours of work will be from 6am to 7pm each day.
The NZ Transport Agency says Route K will remain open, however the off ramp exit point will be moved 300m north towards Bethlehem and the off ramp surface may be uneven at times.
Stop/go traffic management and a 50km/h speed restriction will be in place on that stretch of Route K and the neighbouring northbound sections of Tamatea Arikinui Drive and 15th Avenue, says a statement from the roading agency.
The works are weather dependent and may be postponed by a week if necessary.

So it begins ...

The beginning of the spend ups on all and everything at TCC ratepayers expense .... so as to get more debt and more rates. Apparently debt will reduce a little in July this year, but then a huge bill will have to be paid (more than money received) so after that, less debt but then ends up as a lot more. Funny set up really where the money in is all that counts, ignore everything going out.
Waive the toll

Presumably for the delays and route changes the toll will be waived for the duration of the works?
WHO would pay

to use a two lane goat track gets you no closer to where you want to go. How about 10PM to 5AM repair job when NOBODY is actually using the TOLL road !!!
Classic pessimism

YOGI BEAR. Happiness is a choice and often something that requires an accurate world view. Route K debt is being transferred to central government along with the asset. This was put on hold until the elections were held last year but one would assume without any further information (and my glass half full world view) that this is still going ahead. A few suggestions to solve your frame of mind. 1. Sell your house and rent 2. Go away! 3. Run for council

Thanks, appreciate the guidance. PS they won't let me into Council to run it, don't have any PC skills, it's obvious so just can't have that I am afraid. You're correct TCC hope to get a cheque for about $61m, however the price for that is TCC get to retain some $35-40m of 'other' Route-K debt, ratepayers will never see that money ex NZTA and it will only be repaid via rates increases. The other problem is that NZTA have billed TCC $45m (cost increases, extras to come) to widen Fiftieth Avenue/Turret Road. The land/road/tolls collection all get handed over to NZTA, and TCC is left with $80-100m of debt, so if I am a little, sad, pessimistic or whatever please excuse me for being aware of what they have done and being aware of just how bad it is.

Oh that's right I forgot to add the millions being sent to upgrade Route-K now to then hand over to MZTA.
