Bus crash at Te Maunga roundabout

A bus and two cars have crashed at the Te Maunga roundabout, near Baypark, causing traffic delays.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says one of his staff came upon the crash shortly before 9am.

Police and an ambulance are in attendance at Te Maunga roundabout.

'It appears a car has crashed into the back of another vehicle or the bus,” says Ian.

'An ambulance is being called to the scene as the driver of the front vehicle is complaining of neck and back pain.

'The ambulance is being called as a precaution.”

Ian says police are working to establish what happened and clear the scene as quickly as possible.

That roundabout is many accidents waiting to happen. It's plain stupid the way it has been laid out.
