Assault leaves man unconscious

A SunLive caller said police tape was put up on the roundabout at the end of Lyn Grove with four police cars at the scene.

It is understood the man was taken to hospital and later discharged.

A person commenting on SunLive's facebook page says there was a quiet party at a house after some new residents had moved in, with the incident happening between 2am and 3am.

They say the man met a group on the driveway before being told to go away. A fight broke out with people shouting and bottles being smashed, and the man was left lying in the driveway.

They add: 'People called cops who arrived and saw him by himself unconscious. He didn't wake up till this morning [Sunday]. Everyone should be grateful he did wake up.”

One commenter says the incident happened at the end of their driveway.

'Heard it all kicking off around 3 but went back to sleep. Yep horrible. Hope he is OK,” says the commenter.

Another commenter says she was told by police it was a 'serious assault”.

So far, multiple calls to Tauranga Police to comment on the incident have been unsuccessful.
