Earthquake rattles the region

Tauranga residents are reporting feeling an earthquake in the region shortly after a quake struck the Te Aroha area.

GeoNet reports a quake, registering 3.4 on the Richter scale, struck around 3.30pm.

An earthquake in Te Aroha has been felt in the Bay of Plenty.

The earthquake was centred 25km south of Te Aroha and was 6km deep.

GeoNet says it was 'good” and likely to have been felt in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions.
