A large high over the Tasman Sea is expected to move across the country today bringing fine weather to Tauranga – but it won't last.
The MetService is forecasting today and tomorrow to be mostly fine, with patches of drizzle expected to creep in from Thursday.
Meteorologist Peter Little says the high pressure system will rule the beginning of the week, so settled weather can be expected across much of the country.
A weak front embedded in the southwest flow is brushing up the country, bringing cloud and the odd light shower to the south and east.
'This front is about as weak as you can get, with many places likely to miss out on a shower.”
Peter says as the high moves to the east of the country tomorrow, a northerly flow will establish.
'The northerly will bring moisture in the form of cloud and drizzle to northern and western places from mid-week.
Temperatures in Tauranga will see daily highs sitting around 16 degrees and overnight lows dropping to about nine degrees today and tomorrow.
From Thursday rain is on the cards, and is predicted to last through until Saturday.
'Rain is also expected to arrive over many other parts of the country on Friday, though only patchy falls are expected in the south and east of both islands.”
