Opening date set in Papamoa

Papamoa residents only need to wait four weeks for the area's new Pak'n Save supermarket with Foodstuffs announcing it will open it on Tuesday, September 14.
Rumours circulated for years that Foodstuffs was building a Pak'n Save in Papamoa, but residents hoping for more choice saw no progress until construction teams suddenly arrived at the new site late last year.

The new Papamoa supermarket will open on September 14.

Foodstuffs general manager property Angela Bull says the supermarket will provide new jobs, more competition, more choice and more investment in the Papamoa community.
She says the company has been inundated with emails and phone calls from residents over the years pleading for the supermarket to be built.
Papamoa's Derrin Gordon was among those demanding the new supermarket, believing the absence of competition was pushing up prices in the only other supermarket in the area.
'It's been a long time coming and a long time talking about it. They have been talking about a Pak'n Save ever since I moved to Papamoa.”
Angela says shelves are currently being put in and items will start going in this week.
'It's a bit like laying out the kitchen and trying to find out where the plates are going.”
Tauranga Mayor Stuart Crosby will officially open the supermarket early morning on September 14 and shoppers can enter immediately after.
