A crane was also brought in to remove the overturned truck.

When emergency services arrived at thes scene this morning, the truck driver was awlking about but collapsed a short time later.

Earlier:

Katikati Fire Brigade chief fire officer Brendan Gibbs says he was transported to hospital by St John Paramedics in a serious condition.

He says the snapped pole is putting strain on another pole.

'The pole is hanging over one lane of SH2, so we have closed that lane until contractors can fix the pole.

'Another pole is twisting and bending under the strain of the first pole and could go at any moment.”

Brendan says the road is likely to be down to one lane for most of the morning until power authorities can fix the poles.

'They are bringing in a hiab to with a new pole. I'm not sure how long the whole process is going to take.”

Senior Sergeant Shannon Clifford says motorists should expect delays whilst emergency services await for the arrival of a crane to upright the truck and trailer vehicle.

"The road may have to be fully closed later in the day when the crane arrives. Motorists are advised to consider taking alternative routes."

The Police Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit is in attendance at the scene and will assisting in the investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
