Green Party education spokesperson Catherine Delahunty and Green Party co-leader Metiria Turei will be continuing the Green Party's ‘Kids at the Heart of Education' nationwide speaking tour next week in the Bay of Plenty.
The MPs will be speaking about the Green Party's schools as community hubs plan and how it can help schools play an even greater role in engaging families and ensuring a great education for all children.
Green Party education spokesperson Catherine Delahunty will be in Tauranga next week along with Green Party co-leader Metiria Turei.
'We have a plan to establish community hubs in all decile one to four schools in New Zealand to tackle the increasingly negative impact of inequality on our children's education outcomes,” says Catherine.
'Our school hub plan is going to have a positive impact in Gisborne. Children in the region will benefit from having dedicated school hub coordinators, onsite school nurses, lunch for hungry children, and free after school and holiday care.
Catherine says their approach to education will make sure children aren't missing out and will ensure their families have opportunities to thrive too.
'This is about ensuring kids are happy, healthy and ready to learn so they can achieve everything they're capable of, while freeing up principals and teachers to do what they do best – teach.”
Catherine and Metiria will visit Gate Pa School in Tauranga on May 12 at 5.30pm and Knox Presbyterian Church in Whakatane on May 14 at 7.30om.
