Friends of Puketoki volunteer Colin Hewens is puzzled as to why someone would steal the group's possum traps.
'Perhaps they have a problem with us trapping possums, but if that is the case I wish they would contact us ands discuss it.”

Last week the group discovered four traps had been levered off the trees they had been attached to, but at the time they were unable to check the rest of their lines.
Colin says when they carried out further checks over the weekend they found five more traps had been stolen.
'At $35 per trap that is over $300 worth of traps. I would love to catch whoever it is.”
Colin says the volunteers have put in a lot of work to try and eradicate pests from the reserve which was donated to the community by sawmiller Henry Sharplin in 1926.
The group is notifying police as somebody saw a car that might have a connection with the thefts.
'Someone spotted a dark coloured car parked near the reserve earlier last week and now we are wondering whether that might have had something to do with it.”
