Cloud is expected to hover over Tauranga in between periods of sunshine for Valentine's Day tomorrow.

The MetService says the North Island should enjoy fine weather except for some showers in the west which should fade during the day.

Fine weather is forecast for Valentine's Day.

The temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-twenties with overnight lows of around 15 degrees.

The weekend's weather looks set to be dominated by high pressure and generally settled conditions.

'For many, fine weather is the order of the weekend but there are likely to be a few spots where the odd afternoon shower may develop, so keep a check on the latest forecasts,” says meteorologist John Law.

'There is some wetter weather in store for Fiordland this weekend. Scattered rain is possible in the east as well on Saturday, south of Banks Peninsula, but this should clear to leave a drier, brighter Sunday.”
