Environment BOP and Tauranga City Council have each contributed $30,000 to the clean up of sea lettuce in Tauranga Harbour this summer. The authorities are not cleaning up the entire harbour, as the money will not cover this. Instead they have targeted specific public places. SunLive visited Kulim Park to find out what people there thought about the councils' effort to clean up the sea lettuce.
$60,000 seems a lot to clean up sea lettuce and some people living in the area may not have wanted to spend their
taxes on it so a petition should have been done.

It doesn't looks like anything has been done about it, you can still see and smell it. Loretta Terblanche, Bureta
If that is all that it is going to do, then possibly it is not worth it.
Craig Torr, Welcome Bay
I think it is worth it, it is going to be a reoccuring thing but doens't look too bad. Ray Mapp, Matua
I hadn't realised it had been cleaned up.
Jill Labudde, Otumoetai
Can you tell? if it is done and is cleaned up then it is money well spent but it should have started earlier.Maree Boyer, Matua
It is still very smelly.
Briar Gordon, Pillans Point
I think you should find out whether lawn mowings are affecting it and what the causes are. Pam Gordon, Otumoetai
They should spend more, it still stinks.
Paul Drew, Matua
It still stinks, I don't think they will ever be able to fix it.Christine Phillips, Bureta
