Bay prepares for Earth Hour

Tauranga organisers of this year's Earth Hour are hoping more people will participate in the event and adopt long term changes to the way they use power.
Earth Hour is designed to raise the awareness of climate change and will be held on Saturday, 8.30pm-9.30pm.

Tauranga artists Regan, the former Corner Stone Roots lead guitarist, and Luke Thompson are encouraging Tauranga residents to get behind Earth Hour on Saturday.

Tauranga City Council's education for sustainability coordinator Michelle Elborn is encouraging people to turn off their lights and other electrical items during Earth Hour.
"Earth Hour is not just about saving power, it's about stimulating a change in the way we use power."
Over one billion people around the globe participated in Earth Hour last year and Tauranga recorded a five per cent energy saving.
Tauranga artists Luke Thompson and Regan, the former Corner Stone Roots lead guitarist, will perform in a candle lit acoustic night at Edgewater Fan Reserve next to the Kestral in central Tauranga.
