A lingering anticyclone looks set to produce sunshine – and plenty of it – for Tauranga City this week.
The Metservice is a predicting a long stretch of sunshine right through until Tuesday next week with temperatures sitting between a warm 22 and 24 degrees most days.
The MetService is predicting sunshine for the rest of the week.
MetService media and communications meteorologist Daniel Corbett says this week's weather is expected to be quieter and more settled than in previous weeks, thanks to a large lingering anticyclone building across the country midweek.
"It will be a quiet week of weather in most places, but there will still be some cloud about and even a bit of wet weather here and there."
Daniel says the large anticyclone will gradually build across the country from the southwest during tomorrow and into Wednesday.
'This will bring mostly fine and dry days through the second half of the week, but as with every high there is bound to be some patchy cloud around at times near coastlines.
'At this point it looks like the mostly dry and settled weather will hang on into the weekend, when a new weather system brings some wet weather to the southwest.”
