The 2013 Piako Fete will be the best ‘ladies day out' this summer, says organiser Lynsey Champion.
To be held on Friday, November 15, at Daltons Plantation near Matamata, the fete will feature an eclectic mix of high quality stalls along with demonstrations, food and drink, a fashion show, and live music entertainment.
'Piako Fete is all about ladies having a great day out. We've rounded up fashion, beauty, cuisine, gardening and shopping to showcase against Daltons Plantation's backdrop of 10 acres of beautiful landscaped display gardens,” says Lynsey.
Among the demonstrators are top fashion stylist Megan Maher, from Repertoire, and Jill Mulvaney, from Alembics – an artisan company promoting the ancient skills of distilling essential oils in handcrafted copper stills. They will be joined by World Organics Skincare, The Nukes Ukulele Band, and dozens of stallholders offering exclusive shopping opportunities including plants, clothing, crafts and arts for sale.
'It's an opportunity to have a girly indulgence day and get some Christmas shopping done,” says Lynsey.
The inaugural Piako Fete in 2012 attracted almost 1000 people and this year the line-up of entertainment and shopping is even stronger with several artisan food vendors.
In 2012, the Waiheke-based duo teamed up with Daltons Plantation to host the inaugural Piako Fete in Matamata, the 'almost epicentre” of the North Island.
Modelled on the supremely successful fetes in the South Island, which Lynsey has attended several times as a stallholder, their aim is for the Piako Fete to become a well-established annual event and earn the title of the ultimate ladies day out.
A donation from profits will be made to the Waikato Breast Cancer Trust, which will go towards more comfortable seating for patients receiving chemotherapy.
