Fine weekend ahead

Tauranga's fine weather is expected to continue this weekend with sunshine forecast for Saturday and Sunday.

The MetService is expecting a reasonably fine weekend on the weather front, as a ridge of high pressure covers the North Island and a couple of fronts further south remain fairly weak.

Fine weather is expected to continue this weekend.

Daily highs in Tauranga are predicted to remain around the 20 degrees Celsius mark, while overnight lows are expected to drop down to about 10 degrees Celsius.

MetService media and communications meteorologist Dan Corbett says this weekend should be okay for outdoor activities, but bear in mind there could be a lot of nuisance cloud around.

'A slow-moving front will bring some rain at times to the west coast of the South Island, and perhaps a strengthening north-westerly wind in the far south by Sunday.

'Elsewhere, there will be a fair bit of cloud which could provide some spots of drizzle to western areas, particularly in the mornings.”

Dan says the far north and east will be the driest and the brightest during the weekend.

'Early next week a new weather system will move in from the Tasman Sea to bring wet weather to most of the country by midweek.”
