Planting the Kopurererua

Western Bay people are heading to the Kopurererua Valley to plant trees as part of Centennial Trust Planting Day on Sunday morning.
The trust has 10,000 plants including 500 large species trees. These will be strategically planted to create a mini forest in years to come.

A previous planting day at the Kopurererua Valley saw about 100 people turn up to help.

The planting is open to the public for participation, with people able to access the valley by using a farm gate entrance at the western end of Marshall Avenue, near Barkes Corner. People are required to wear sturdy footwear, but spades are provided.
