While the BOP Polytechnic Secondary Schools top echelon leader board looks to be a logjam at the top - the main contenders have games in hand.
Tauranga Boys' College First XV, which leads the points ladder, has posted an undefeated record with a game in hand. While they have their sights firmly on the Super Eight in the second half of the season, the Western Bay School wants to win the regional competition.
This Saturday, they travel to Rotorua to meet Western Heights High School. The Rotorua Secondary School has an impressive record over the years, producing a number of All Blacks from their ranks. Coached by Bay rugby legend Ron Preston, the school is currently going through a rebuilding of their first XV for the future.



The Rotorua Boys' High School firsts have also been unbeaten this year, and are lurking just behind Tauranga Boys', with two games in hand. Trident High School is this weekend's opponents at Rotorua Boys' High, with the visitors expected to give plenty of cheek throughout the encounter.

The closest game of the round should be the match-up in the Western Bay of Plenty where, Tauranga Boys' seconds will meet their Rotorua Boys' counterparts. Te Puke High School has the home advantage when Opotiki College pays a visit on Saturday.

Division Two front-runners, Reporoa College, which has posted a four from four win record, should continue on their winning way when they travel to play Mount Maunganui College. The winner of Otumoetai College and Whakatane High School match will cement second place in section one.

Tauranga Boys' College and John Paul College will fight out the top spot in section two - with a local derby between Rotorua Boys' and Rotorua Lakes taking place at Rotorua Boys' High.

Taupo Nui A Tia, which is the runaway leader in Division Three, get another opportunity to increase their stranglehold on the first round title, when they play Aquinas College in the Western Bay of Plenty.
