Former Tauranga businessman, Gregory Howard Meads, is facing murder charges after the post mortem of his wife, Helen, revealed she died from a gun shot wound in the torso. Helen died on Wednesday in her Matamata home.

The Armitage Hotel, previously called the Willow Park Hotel.

They had owned the Willow Park Hotel before selling-up to pursue a horse breeding career in the Waikato at their stud called Willow Park.
The former Willow Park Hotel is now known as The Armitage.
Former staff say the Meads left town in the early 1990s.
Helen was allegedly shot dead in an outbuilding on the Meads' property.
Meads, 54, has been charged with his wife's murder. He did not seek name suppression or enter a plea when he appeared in the Hamilton District Court.
His parents, Howard and Janice of Tauranga were present in court.
No bail application was made and he was remanded in custody to reappear on October 8.
