The Department of Conservation will cut more than 70 full time jobs this September as a result of their final reorganisation.
The restructuring will see 72 jobs cut later this year following changes to local management structures where two management layers will also be replaced by one, supported by senior rangers.

DOC says an additional 60 frontline jobs will offset those being cut.
The organisation has been consulting with its approximately 1800 staff since first proposing changes for its operational arm over a month ago.
This week it outlined the department's final decisions to staff around the country.
Department of Conservation deputy director-general Doris Johnston says the new structure will streamline the department's current 11 conservancy districts into six new conservation delivery regions.
'The simpler regional structure and strengthened field teams will enable DOC to continue with its own work and also develop conservation partnerships with others.
The reshuffle will also create two distinct nationwide teams with one focussing on delivering DOC's recreation, historic and biodiversity field work and the other working to develop new conservation initiatives in partnership with other organisations.
But DOC is claiming the loss of the jobs is offset by additional funding enabling to build more than 60 additional frontline roles into the new structure.
Doris says budget funding, announced last week, will add an additional 41 field-based ranger roles and 22 visitor information and support positions to local offices.
DOC has been consulting with its approximately 1800 staff since first proposing changes for its operational arm over a month ago.
Doris Johnston says the new structure will take effect in September and DOC will be working with affected staff during the coming months on options such as redeployment, relocation or redundancy.

for Bay of Plenty offices. How many staff engaged in protecting the environment will be lost (none of this staffs cuts and offsetting, just give a factual description and actual positions affected) and what about the contractors, will there be cost cuts to their budgets? Maybe sun live could talk to DOC area managers and staff for a full picture.
