Treat your ears to award winning poetry, old and new, this Friday, July 24 at No.1 The Strand - at the 2009 Montana Poetry Day celebrations.

The event is called Loose Canons and is organised by Bay of Plenty poetry magazine Bravado and sponsored by Sun Media.
Organiser and author Jenny Argante says Loose Canons will be an evening of words and music, with Bay poets, songwriters and musicians sharing poetry from 7pm.
Poet Owen Bullock will read his own works, Peter Dashwood will read some favourite poems, while poet and songwriter Marcel Currin will bring his guitar or a piano – whichever is lightest.
There will also be an open mike session where people can read favourite poems of their choice.
The event will include the launch of Bravado 16 and there will be a prize subscription to Bravado for the best poem of the evening and a bottle of Montana wine for the best song.
