250 converge for 350

Hundreds of Western Bay of Plenty residents turned out to express their concern that urgent action on climate change is needed.
About 250 people met at Mount Maunganui's main beach on Saturday afternoon to form a giant 350.

About 250 people met at Mount Maunganui on Saturday and formed a giant 350.

The event was organised by 350 Tauranga, which believes 350 parts per million is the maximum amount of carbon dioxide that should be in the atmosphere.
Kim Cleland of 350 Tauranga says the gathering was an opportunity for Tauranga residents to have their say on climate change.

She says the gathering also pushed for a treaty, which places a cap of 350 carbon dioxide parts per million, to be formed at a climate change meeting of world leaders in Copenhagen in December.
