Three people have been injured in a crash in Bay of Plenty.

Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Thornton Beach Rd and West Bank Rd about 10.20am.

Hato Hone St John said one rapid response unit, two ambulances, one helicopter, and one operations manager attended the scene.

“Three patients, two in serious condition and one in moderate condition, were transported to Whakatane Hospital by road.”

Police said the road is slightly blocked, and traffic management is in place.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and expect delays.”
