Person airlifted to hospital with serious injuries

A person has been seriously injured in what police are describing as a “vehicle-involved incident” in Te Puke.

A large emergency response has been spotted in the area.

A local arborist told SunLive they heard sirens after seeing a helicopter land on private property.

An employee of Treelord Ltd Te Puke said he had seen a helicopter land and a fire engine appear. He also heard several sirens.

He could see locals walking towards the scene on No 1 Rd.

A resident in the area said the incident “was not a car accident” and the ambulance left around 1.30pm.

A police spokesperson said a person had been seriously injured in the vehicle-involved incident.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one person was being airlifted to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.
