'Overall, it's a reasonably unsettled week for the North Island,” says media and communication meteorologist Daniel Corbett.
'However, a drier spell is expected in most areas on Wednesday. This will hopefully enable good viewing of the partial solar eclipse on Wednesday morning.”
Daniel says it is quite a different story for most of the South Island.
'Long spells of fine, or at least dry, weather - and cool nights - are expected in many South Island places through to about Friday.
'The exceptions are Canterbury and Marlborough today and early tomorrow, and the West Coast on Wednesday and Friday.”
The MetService is predicting a high of 17 degrees today with an overnight low of eight.
Tomorrow's high is expected to be 19 degrees, with 19 being predicted for Thursday.
