Motorists travelling between Tauranga and the Waikato via State Highway 29 are being warned to expect delays.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is reporting a crash on the hgihway on the Matamata side of the Kaimai Summit.

"Due to a crash one lane is blocked west of the Kaimai summit (Waikato side).

"Expect delays until vehicle recovery and clean-up is complete."

A SunLive reader has also email in showing photos of a spillage blocking one lane.

The reader says people should avoid the area or expect delays in their travels.

A police spokeperson says vehicles are able to get past the crash, but cuation is advised.

"One person’s described as injured but does not appear serious."

The blue dot on the map indicates where the crash has happened on SH29.
