ANZAC Day parking for Tauranga services

Anzac Day commemorations across Tauranga city will include several dawn services, at Pāpāmoa, Mount Maunganui and Tauranga city,  giving residents a chance to remember the brave men and women who fought for the freedom we enjoy today.

At Pāpāmoa the Anzac Day service will be held at the Pāpāmoa War Memorial in Stella Place, with the public encourated to arrive by 5.30am for a 5.55am start.  

Veterans, families and individuals will be invited to place poppies or wreaths at the base of the Pāpāmoa  Cenotaph following the main service.

Road closures will apply in support of the services at Mount Maunganui and Tauranga.

Tauranga

From 7am to 12pm, road closures will be in place for the following locations:

  • Fraser Street – between Eleventh and Thirteenth Avenues
  • Eleventh Avenue – between Devonport Road and Fraser Street

A free park and ride service will be available from Tauranga Boys' College to Memorial Park between 8am and 8.40am, with buses returning immediately after the service.

Buses will drop off and pick up from the Queen Elizabeth Youth car park. All park and ride buses are accessible for people with limited mobility.

Mount Maunganui

From 2am to 12pm, road closures will be in place for the following locations:

  • Marine Parade - between Commons and Banks Avenues
  • Pacific Avenue - between Rita Street and Marine Parade
  • Grace Avenue - between Maunganui Road and Marine Parade

A free park and ride service will be available from Kawaka Street, behind Blake Park, to Maunganui Road, behind Mount Drury Reserve, Hopukiore.

Buses will depart from Kawaka Street between 5am and 5.50am, returning at the conclusion of the Dawn Service between 6.15am and 7.30am.  All park and ride buses are accessible for people with limited mobility.

Good to see a complex operation being organized and co-ordinated so well. Kudos to the people who did this. If you are Tcc staff, then maybe there is hope for you yet... If you are not, then think about running for Council...
