People who flocked to the Bay of Plenty for the holiday weekend and were belted with high winds and heavy rain on Sunday can expect better weather today.

The MetService says today looks like being overcast, with a few showers early on but becoming fine later in the day.

Sunshine is on its way to the Bay, says The MetService.

The Westerly winds are also expected to ease, with a high of 19degrees predicted for Tauranga.

Fine and dry weather is also predicted for the Tauranga area from Wednesday through to early next week.

Yesterday, a severe weather warning for high winds and heavy rainfall was lifted for the eastern Bay of Plenty as the weather improves – just in time for work and school.
