New leader for sexual harm support service

With an extensive background in social services and a passion for advocating for survivors of sexual assault, Julie will lead the agency's vision of a society free from sexual harm and violence. 

She has held the Social Change and Prevention role at Tautoko Mai for four years, leading the development of new and exciting initiatives to address the issue of sexual violence. 

"Bringing a wealth of family and sexual violence industry experience to her new role, Julie is recognised for her leadership, commitment to social justice, and dedication to ensuring survivor voices are heard. 

"Julie has a proven track record of leadership in both community and government roles, reflecting a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding sexual assault and a determination to drive positive change within the community."

Julie has called this area home for over five decades although she has spent time in Wellington working for Te Puna Aonui and The Family Violence Death Review Committee.  

"I am honoured to step into this new role at Tautoko Mai and am supported by a dedicated team to continue the essential work of advocating for survivors and change," says Julie. 

"I am deeply committed to our mission of creating a society free from sexual violence, and I look forward to collaborating with our partners, stakeholders, and the community to drive impactful initiatives that support survivors and prevent future instances of assault."

Julie officially started her role as Chief Executive Officer of Tautoko Mai Sexual Harm Support on December 11.
