Reports are coming in of a police incident on The Strand in Tauranga.

A SunLive reader says the public toilets on The Strand have been taped off by police.

"It looks quite serious."

A police spokesperson says they are investigating a sudden death.

They say there is nothing to "to suggest anything untoward".

"The matter has been referred to the coroner."
