A brand-new Fire and Emergency New Zealand rural pump truck has rolled and seriously injured one person near Matamata on its way to a new home on Thursday morning.
Emergency services responded to the truck crash on State Highway 28, in the Te Poi area just west of the Kaimai Ranges, just after 10am.
Two FENZ crews from Tirau and Matamata were attending the incident where a new rural pump truck, on its way to Tauranga, had rolled, a spokesperson says.
Hato Hone St John responded to the crash with one ambulance.
A spokesperson says paramedics took one person in a serious condition to Tauranga hospital.
Waka Kotahi has advised motorist to follow the directions of response crews. Delays were likely and temporary road closure may be required for vehicle recovery, the agency says.
