Community invited to Maunganui Road meetings

Opportunities to discuss the upgrade between Hull Road and Tui Street will be available between 10am - 2pm from Monday to Thursday, August 28 - 31.

Tauranga City Council are inviting the community to come and chat with staff this week about design options for increasing safety on Maunganui Road.

Opportunities to discuss the upgrade between Hull Road and Tui Street will be available between 10am - 2pm from Monday to Thursday, August 28 - 31.

"We have been working on the design of the final stage of the Maunganui Road upgrade section between Tui Street and Hull Road," says a council spokesperson.

"This is the final part of the Maunganui Road safety improvements project."

Council says this stretch of Maunganui Road has some complex intersections with the Central Parade shopping centre and associated car parking areas.  "Central Parade businesses have informed us of their safety concerns at these locations.

"Council would like to share the preferred plans with the community having considered a range of design options, which will eventually see the road connected with earlier stages of Maunganui Road upgrades, increasing safety and providing for safer alternative modes of travel. Consultation has started and will be ongoing until Friday, September 1.

"We will be at the following locations and times, if you would like to chat with us in person:

Monday, August 28, 10am - 2pm in the foyer of New World, Mount Maunganui.

Tuesday,  August 29, 10am - 2pm at Mount Hub, 9a Prince Avenue, Mount Maunganui.

Wednesday,  August 30, 10am to 2pm in the foyer of New World, Mount Maunganui.

Thursday,  August 31, 10am to 2pm at Mount Hub, 9a Prince Avenue, Mount Maunganui.
