Tauranga City Council are asking visitors and stallholders attending the weekly Farmers Market at Tauranga Primary School to be aware of an upcoming road closure.

The southbound lanes of Cameron Road will be closed between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue from 6am Saturday, September 9 to 6pm Sunday, September 10.

Traffic will be diverted down Fourth Avenue to Devonport Road before re-joining Cameron Road at Sixth Avenue (east). Arundel Street will also be fully closed to traffic, with access maintained for residents only from Devonport Road, with no entry on to Cameron Road.

Traffic will still be able to access Cameron Road using Fifth Avenue (east) or Sixth Avenue (east).

Eleventh Avenue intersection Meanwhile, the initial stages of work at the Eleventh Avenue intersection are nearing completion.

"In the coming fortnight the team will open up the lane closures on the western (McDonald’s and Z service station) side of the intersection."

Work on the eastern (The Flooring Room and Jay Car) side is expected to begin in mid-September.

"The team will need to return to work on all four corners of the intersection as work progresses."

Stormwater works "Stormwater works are progressing well on the western side of the Ninth Avenue intersection and the team is preparing for work on the stormwater crossing which will cross Ninth Avenue west."

This will require the full closure of the Ninth Avenue intersection for five weeks, weather dependent, from Sunday, September 10.   Work is also underway in other sections of the corridor, including some areas of the centre median.   "We ask that you take these works into account when you plan your journey and thank drivers for their patience and understanding.

"You can check here for travel updates. We also recommend checking Google Maps or Waka Kotahi NZTA Journey Planner."   For more detailed information on these works, visit the road closures webpage Upcoming night works Cameron Road southbound lanes between Eleventh Avenue and Thirteenth Avenue: From 6pm Sunday, 27 August the southbound (heading away from the city) lanes of Cameron Road will be closed at nights (6pm to 6am) for resurfacing. Poor businesses

This may well tip some business over and it's so sad with that constant pressure on them . Like many I try very hard to avoid Cameron road but sometimes it's impossible as it's such a major road to connect to the hospital and some businesses. It is so depressing to be in Tauranga as leaving home is now of unknown length and disruption . Can't understand why everything drags on for literally years with so many no go or hard to areas all at once. From what I see so far it's not going to be an improvement. The bus system will need to be really good . I have tried but buses are too unreliable and very time consuming and can't give what I need at present. Can't see it changing with the council bureaucratic mismanagement

What i cant get my head around is ,gardens up the side of the road. Our rates are high enough without more gardens to maintain.Car parking gone from side of the road, now meaning shops will suffer.Cycle lane and footpath take up to much room should have been half the size,if its ok to cycle and walk across the Waikareao on a 1.8 mtr walkway same should be for Cameron road as the Waikareao is busier the Cameron road.

Chaos

Wouldn't it be nice if they could finish some of the works before starting others?
Maybe starting at one end of Cameron Rd and working towards the other would have been more sensible?
