An 80-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a crash earlier this month.

In a statement released overnight, police say Raymond Bartholomew Matthews from Hamilton passed away following a crash on Great Soiuth Road, Taupiri, on Wednesday, August 9.

"Initially, he was transported to hospital in a critical condition and subsequently died from his injuries.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
