UPDATE 8.11AM: State Highway 29 is partially blocked after multiple trucks have become stuck due to slippery roads, on the Kaimai Range.

One of the eastbound lanes are blocked, says a police spokesperson.

"Police advise motorists to expect delays, take care and drive to the conditions if travelling over the Kaimai Range this morning."

EARLIER:

State Highway 29 is closed this morning.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency reports that a truck has broken down on the highway between Tauranga and Matamata.

The road is closed in both directions near the Kaimai Summit.

"A detour is in place.

"Please follow the detour and allow extra travel time."
